Thank you Phil!

I was so happy to hear that Punxatawney Phil didn't see his shadow yesterday! It has been so stinking cold here in paradise. Not miserable and wet like it is in southeast Idaho and Utah, but it's been c-o-l-d! Now having said that, I'm entirely aware that in the last 25 years, he's only been right about his predictions 24% of the time. Even giving him the benefit of the doubt, maybe the "magical fountain of youth punch" wasn't strong enough or maybe his translator's command of Groundhog-ese was lacking, I still say,

"Sorry Phil, but that's not a good average."

I know I'm not alone in wanting an early spring; all of the trees and bushes around here are looking forward to it too! I have a beautiful Paper Birch that is budding. If those buds freeze, that would be sad. All over Boise, the flowers are beginning to poke their heads out. I know its wrong to want it to come early but it's so beautiful to see life in the form of green growing things when the skies have been gray and the nights have been cold. Of course until it's here to stay, I'll enjoy the warmisher days and find my flowers where I can. I found these in the Boise River.

Happy January All (yes, it's still January!),

2016 is going to be an interesting new year. Elections -- the economic changes -- global warming and the weather roller coaster. Not to mention that the clock keeps ticking and our hearts keep beating. We are all another year wiser and hopefully "well-er". This will be a short post because as much as I want to write it, I have once again bitten off more than I can chew today. I have deadlines and I cannot spend much time here. So to take the place of an otherwise awesome post, I'll post a decidedly equally awesome picture. And in that same vein, I want to challenge everyone to a 12 month photo post (we'll see who is watching now, won't we!?) Take a photo each month of this upcoming year, that would be 2016 -- each week if you like --- but the challenge is for each month.

To do this, click on New Posts; in the next screen, you can create a blurb and/or attach a photo by clicking on the little "picture icon" just to the right of  "Link" (insert image); under Upload, click on Choose Files (search your picture files for your photo); select your file, click OPEN, and viola! Your photo will be inserted in your post. From there, you can enlarge it; add a caption, etc. When you are satisfied with your post, click the orange Publish button in the upper right of the screen. Easy peasy.

So enjoy. Enjoy this picture. Enjoy the new year. Enjoy each other. And enjoy the possibilities and adventures that make living each day a blessed gift.
