Where are the Rhymes?

Marty, you said you'd post some poetry! Where is it? I know you guys have been busy, but come on! Ü
We're so thankful that Austin is doing better! We all have a lot to be thankful for! Happy New Year!

Char

Tho't for the day

You may have already read it today somewhere. I read this thought in the Morning News and heard it twice on NPR today.

It's worth reading a time or two:

"In masks outrageous and austere
The years go by in single file.
But none has merited my fear,
And none has quite escaped my smile."

---Elinor Wylie

Happy New Year all of you, dear ones.

Love, Mom and Dad

Happy New Year!

Happy New Year everyone....Hope 2009 is just as wonderful for you all as 2008 was...or even better!!

If you haven't noticed...the layout of our blog has changed a little, just take a few minutes to get aquainted...and if there is anythign else you'd like to see on this page....please let me (Char) know!

Austin good news

Updating from my own observations: Starting on the 26th Austin started to make good progress. Each time he got up it was a little bit easier. The hardest part was the 'getting up' . . . . . once up, he was walking quite well. The 'meds' situation steadily improved. Eating too.

I left Ogden for Dianne's and Marty's about 11am on the 27th. The Dr. discharged him from McKay - Dee the same afternoon, and they came home later that evening. Arrived home about 11pm, doing well and glad to be home. ( The roads were horrifying) Marty had cleared away a mountain of snow earlier in the day, and Thayne, Hayden, Abbi, and Ethan had worked hard to clear snow, clean house, etc. and had everything good and safe for the homecoming. They were so excited to have him home and even though everyone knew it was probably best to go to bed, they didn't -- they finished Christmas instead -- mostly. A few things waited until Sunday, the 28th.

Before I came home on Mon. 29th, Austin had been up the stairs at least twice; getting up by himself; and sitting in a chair some. Ready to get around without the 'walker'.

Austin has some interesting 'photos' (X-rays) to show you sometime. Pictures of a miracle.

Now, Dianne says, it's much easier for him to get to his feet, doing that on his own; he has been up and down the stairs several times; sat at the table to eat yesterday. It sound like he is really on his way!

So sorry I missed seeing so many of you on Friday -- but that gives me lots of reason to come see you, call and visit, and all that.

OUR LOVE TO EACH ONE AND ALL OF YOU WONDERFUL CHILDREN, GRANDS, AND GREAT-GRANDS!!!!!

You are the greatest blessings to our lives; we are so richly blessed because of you. Each one of you. Love, Grandmother and Grandfather Woodland

Austin's update

Dear Family,

Thanks so much for your prayers and fasting, support in all important ways. I talked to Dianne a few minutes ago. Austin has had quite a good day today, and is making good progress. He walked 70 feet, kept his food down, is generally mending well. Many miracles. He recognizes that too.

Love to all of you, Mom and Dad

Merry Christmas!

Nate asked me to tell everyone Merry Christmas for Him....so....
Merry Christmas!!

Sunday, December 14, 2008

Thanks, Megan, for the wisdom! It's true.

Didn't know that about bananas ... I'll try it.

The front porch looks very Christmassy . . . with the sleigh and buggy on runners. You need to come visit and see. We just need a good horse! I may try to post a photo or two, under the guidance of some tech expert like Gale or Jan. or anyone who will walk me through it.

I liked this excerpt from a poem by Henry Van Dyke, author of "The Other Wise Man".

"Who seeks for heaven alone to save his soul,
May keep the path, but will not reach the goal;
While he who walks in love may wander far,
Yet God will bring him where the blessed are."

Merry Christmas with our love, Mom & Dad/Gram and Grampa

Wild Family Weekend...(not wild family...wild weekend!)

Hi everybody!

Happy Anniversary to Ryan and LaBretta...today! ♥

We had a great weekend with all the kids (except Jared and Nate) and grandkids at our house...it was wild but so fun! 'Hope those sick ones are feeling a little better! We went to Texas Roadhouse for dinner on Friday night....finally were seated after a 1.5 hour wait for a table for 9; and it was a nice dinner...we saw someone that some of you may know! Doris (Charlene) Schmidt....I didn't know her middle name was Charlene...anyway, she has changed her name from Doris to Char and manages T.R., she looks great! After dinner on Friday night, Santa came to our place to see the kids and bring them presents...fun! We all got the chance to sit on his lap, even us old folks. He said he had to put wheels on his sleigh this year...there still isn't any snow... :o( On Saturday, the kids decorated cookies for Santa and had a good time playing outside...not too cold yet, still no snow! Lani and Lisa built gingerbread houses...our "tradition"...hehehehe (I built mine late that night). It was great fun but lots of work....Gramma Woodland and Aunt Joan came to visit and bring presents...fun to see them!

This month will just get crazier and crazier by the day if you allow it, so try to make time to make memories and enjoy the season! I hope we get around to see everyone...lots of love to you all....Char

San Antonio

Hi Everyone...
'Just a quick note to tell you all that I love you and am glad to be home! Jan and I had an amazing time in San Antonio although we missed being with you! We were constantly busy as there is so much to do there, especially this past week. We went to the opera (saw Andrea Bocelli), attended the Riverwalk Festival, did some shopping, LOTS of walking round the Riverwalk and tourist-y part of San Antone, toured the Alamo, saw a great movie--"Austalia" and a not so good one--Twilight, had a great dinner at the Charterhouse (where Jan made a Latino friend... ;o] ..Ernesto), and even had Thanksgiving Dinner (at Denney's). It was a great time...here are a few pictures. Hugs to all...Char
