poem

This is an updated breakfast poem I still need to check it for correctness

Home Cooking

This story is about breakfast at a place that’s just hard to beat
They always serve my favorites and know what I like to eat
The chef that fixes it for me now I like the way she cooks
And the one that serves it to me well I'm liking the way she looks

But today as I walked just past the kitchen the cook was nowhere to be seen
And to talk about the looks of the waiter would be nothing far less than quite mean
So as I bellied on up to the counter just like in the days that are past
I thought I may have to go someplace different this day here may be my last

The cook I’m used to seeing she must have called in sick
Because the oatmeal placed before me to eat it would be a trick
And the eggs I like em much softer so today I’m sending them back
They were not what I call eatable being hard and mostly black

The juice that was mixed up for me just got dumped into the sink
I guess I’ll have to go thirsty theirs nothing else here that I'll drink
The toast had to dang much butter so onto the floor it slid
So there was no need for the jam I just put back on it the lid

My cook will be back here tomorrow and the waitress one in the same
So breakfast will be back to normal, for today’s I’ll take all the blame
So as I pondered my thoughts about breakfast as I put the dishes back up on the shelf
The thing I most strongly object too was I had to get breakfast myself

Mickey’s Last Ride

Now if you like little animals like Walt Disney’s mouse,
You’ll not like the story of the one in my house.
The kids had friends over they were just there to play,
But they haven’t been back since , I think they’re okay.

I was surfing the web looking for a manly man deal,
When I heard three girls scream and two little boys squeal.
I clicked the computer on hold yes it screeched to a halt,
And then ran to the kitchen to witness the assault.

The kids came running past they knew to get out,
You should have seen my wife jump and heard my wife shout.
A fly swatter in the left hand and in the other a knife,
It was then I saw Mickey the cause of this strife.

There was a showdown taking place that I could see,
The kitchen right then was no place to be.
The scream we than heard penetrated every room in the house,
But it wasn’t my wife screaming it was Mickey the mouse.

He had just been judged and his sentence was set,
But she first had to catch him and hadn’t as yet.
Then right at that moment Mickey made a break,
Now the fly swatter was fanning and the knife did the shake.

If Mickey losses this race it will be his last,
He had it about won but the swatter was fast.
It had caught up to Mickey and in a falcon-like swoop,
Picked him up smooth yes the fly swatter scoop.

Then Mickey jumped free and ran to the sink,
He then started swimming in that water we drink.
We then heard loud talking and saw her hand twitch,
As she reached up to disposal and turned up the on switch.

She then pulled the trigger on Mickey he was getting the wide open spray,
He was leaving that sink and down was the way.
Now we talk not of this often, about the mouse she did grind,
But it does get the chores done when the kids we remind.

Now our views on Mickey differ the fact is that he died,
To what some of us look like a murder, to my wife was suicide.

The Plan

Hey everyone...i added another new item called "The Plan". It's a plug for Family Preparedness. It's not intended to make anyone feel bad or inadequate or 'behind'. Please just take a look and maybe decide to do one thing. The thing about preparedness is that we have to start somewhere and maybe this will be helpful and give you some ideas of your own. After all...this is the time of year to start anew...right? Good luck with your goals!
Much love, Char

breakfast without Dianne

The eggs could have been somewhat softer
The cocoa was just a bit strong
The toast was a little bit chewy
The oatmeal had simmered way to long
The bacon was crisp but I like it much crisper
The jelly had been left on the shelf
But the thing I most strongly object too
Was I had to get breakfast myself

This is the startings of a 2009 story

Happy New Year!

Just catching up on all the news this morning. Thanks Char ~ the Blog looks great and I love your family blog as well....and LaBretta's too! Good job you guys. I too am thankful to have a loving family. There is great strength in knowing that we have eachother, come what may. In Wes' last letter he spoke of the homeless people that roam the streets of Lethbridge and ponders how different their lives would be if they had family and the gospel to help them. It's amazing to me that it is these 2 things that give meaning and purpose to my life ~ everything, and I mean everything else--- is secondary. Seeing pics of Miss and Wes together make me smile - these are a couple of my favs. Have a wonderful New Year's Day! Jan.
